Christy’s Store

Christy's Store

Home of the Byron Dorgan Exhibit

To the left of the Dr. S.W. Hill building, visitors will find Christy’s Store. This building housed a general store up until 1986. After the store closed, the building was donated to the Hettinger County Historical Society and became another structure in the HCHSM’s possession. Many of the items you find in the store today were for sale upon the closing of the building. As a result, many visitors have mistaken this building as a consignment shop.

Christy’s Store also houses the Military Room and the Byron Dorgan Room. The Military Room contains artifacts such as military uniforms and memorabilia from many of the American conflicts such as World War I, World War II, and the Vietnam War. Alongside the Military Room, visitors will find an entire room dedicated to Regent native and former United States Senator Byron Dorgan. This room contains Byron Dorgan memorabilia and awards that former Senator Dorgan received for his service to the state of North Dakota and the nation.
